Biomedical Project Engineer required to project-manage the design & delivery of innovative device prototypes – by market-leading Medical Device multinational based in Galway


  • Project management activities associated with building of prototypes & product demonstrators
  • Managing right first-time activities for all prototype builds
  • Co-ordinating and facilitating design for manufacture reviews with key operations stakeholders and also day to day scheduling of prototype equipment
  • Work with sister sites within the medical business to utilize their technology and capabilities
  • Review and manage stock materials required, manage database and regular update our offering of off the shelf components and materials
  • Ensure the application of new and existing technologies to provide the optimum delivery system design
  • Participate in trials with physicians to provide clinically relevant feedback on product designs
  • Provide technical feedback during frequent technical contact with customers to optimise product design
  • Support the maintenance of product files and other relevant documentation to comply with quality standards
  • Compile project plans and lead team to develop devices in accordance with planned activities, budget and timelines


  • Level 8 or Masters in Engineering/Science or similar technical field from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years’ experience in medical device product design development
  • Demonstrate product design and development experience, including experience of design review and quality procedures
  • Experience of compiling FMEA’s and conducting verifications and validations for medical devices products and processes
  • Experience with engineering tools such as FEA, Creo, Solid Works, Design for manufacture and Design for Reliability
  • Experience of development of test methods and associated product testing
  • Understanding of polymer materials and selection in medical device design would be an advantage
