EHS Specialist with experience in EH&S management and execution with a manufacturing multinational required by market-leading manufacturing multinational in Galway

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science), Post graduate desirable
  • 2-5 years’ experience working in a world class-manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Essential Chemistry skills – particularly Effluent treatment, Metal coating, and paint processes
  • Familiar with six sigma/continuous improvement methodologies, ability to use simple statistical and graphical tools such as pareto analysis, A3’s etc.
  • Proven track record in EH&S management and execution
  • Strong focus on achieving results and ability to lead and deliver key projects through the A3 process
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from associates, supervisors, and managers at the site level
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, be a self-motivated learner and have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing work environment
  • Proven track record of influencing people to collaborate in achieving project
  • Ability to assign priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Able to mentor and facilitate lean culture change in an environment with varying acceptance
  • Must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive Chemical and Environmental risk assessments and data analysis
  • Proven record of accomplishment in Chemical and Environmental management and execution, a strong focus on achieving results and ability to lead and deliver key projects
  • Good experience of managing EHS management systems (ISO 14001:2015, 45001 & 50001 and liaising with EPA and HSA

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, organize, optimize and control the overall effectiveness of all chemical equipment & processes, to the required Health, Safety and Environmental standards (Industrial Emissions Directive)

  • Manage and report all environmental metrics monthly and complete Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) & Environmental Performance Report (EPR) annually

  • Manage chemical risk assessment and deliveries for all areas on site

  • Implement a robust process to ensure safe introduction of new chemicals on site for plant/product changes

  • Develop and train all relevant personnel on environmental and chemical awareness including specialised training for operators using complex chemical processes

  • Apply lean thinking and standard work to chemical processes to deliver projects that will eliminate waste in all of its forms maximising output, ensuring targets are met using the hierarchy of controls, e.g. hazardous material to be replaced by non- hazardous material

  • Maintain an active process chemical repository ensuring that all product knowledge is maintained, readily accessible and updated, e.g. MSDS, develop site chemical matrix

  • Provide chemical expertise for Capital expenditure projects (CER’s) relating to existing products, major process re-development and new machinery so that they can be readily adapted to suit the product range and the process technologies involved

  • Reduce the sites carbon footprint (energy, waste, water and refrigerant loss reduction) and achieve 14064-1 Carbon neutrality for the site

  • Ensure the site is compliant with all Standard work ISO, EPA, requirements

  • Manage the site’s 5S program ensuring that all audits and corrective actions are completed on schedule
