Electrical Design Engineer required by a market-leading manufacturing multinational in Co. Kerry, to play a key role in shaping electrical systems. You will bring both technical expertise and creative thinking to deliver high-quality, project-based electrical designs. You will be responsible for ensuring seamless integration of electrical systems, meeting customer requirements and contributing to the ongoing development of innovative solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpreting and analysing customer requirements to define electrical system needs

  • Distinguishing between new project-specific needs and standardised, existing solutions

  • Creating and managing electrical system documentation, including EI drawings and single-line diagrams

  • Designing control console layouts and specifying switchgear and other components

  • Leading the integration of electrical subsystems, ensuring cohesive overall functionality

  • Supporting software and commissioning teams with technical specifications, protocols and testing documentation

  • Preparing test plans and acceptance documents for project handovers

  • Liaising with internal teams and suppliers to ensure smooth production, procurement and installation processes

  • Providing technical support for service teams and assisting in resolving customer issues

  • Participating in new system development, component testing and technology evaluations

  • Generating comprehensive technical documentation for use during assembly, installation and commissioning

  • Providing on-site support for both planned activities and emergency repairs

  • Travelling internationally as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Level 7 degree in any of the following disciplines: Automation / Electrical / Electronic / Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience working with ePlan, Solidworks Electrical, Zuken E3 or similar drawing package.
  • Ability to analyse problems and derive solutions.
  • Ability to manage project requirements and schedules.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

DESIRABLE:

  • Risk analysis and safety compliance and understanding of Performance Levels (PLr / SIL).
  • Experience with ABB PLC’s an advantage.
  • Knowledge or experience with industrial Ethernet networks an advantage.
