Job Description

Electronic Design Engineer required by innovative MedTech company in Dublin to contribute to the design, development & testing of electronics and electrical systems for medical devices. You will collaborate closely with software and firmware engineers to ensure seamless product operation and compliance with industry standards, particularly ISO 13485 & IEC 60601 certification

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or similar discipline
  • 3+ years’ medical device industry experience.
  • Have fundamental electronics knowledge with experience in both digital and low-noise analog circuits.
  • Experience with programming languages C and C++ and embedded hardware fundamentals related to use with Microcontrollers and popular interfaces such as Bluetooth, UART etc.
  • Experience in liaising with PCB fabricators and PCBA vendors, including a basic knowledge and understanding of relevant IPC standards for surface mount technology (SMT).
  • A good understanding of quality management system principles (e.g. ISO 9001 or ISO 13485) and/or FDA quality system regulation processes according to 21 CFR part 820 and EU MDR.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of risk management techniques, e.g. FMEA and/or ISO 14971.
  • Experience in Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacture (DFM).
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collaborate with the Product Development Team to design, develop, build & test current and next-generation medical devices.

  • Support product development throughout its lifecycle, from concept generation to post-production.

  • Assist in circuit prototyping, including coordination with prototyping service providers.

  • Conduct product testing, including electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), wireless coexistence, safety, reliability validation & performance testing.

  • Facilitate design and technology transfer from product development to manufacturing by working closely with manufacturing and quality teams.

  • Provide manufacturing support to optimize processes, ensure efficient production & meet operational goals.

  • Design, develop, and validate custom printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) test equipment for products.

  • Investigate hardware failures from the field and contribute to corrective and preventive actions.

  • Perform design activities using CAD software such as Spice, Altium & MATLAB.

  • Analyze and resolve engineering challenges, ranging from fundamental principles to complex technical problems.
