Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
Mechanical Design Engineer required by a market-leading manufacturing multinational in Co. Kerry, play a crucial role in developing high-quality product designs that meet performance, safety and manufacturing standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to work on complex, large-scale mechanical structures within a globally recognised engineering company. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the creation, detailing and delivery of mechanical design solutions in line with departmental requirements and project schedules. The role involves collaborating with internal teams, coordinating with external suppliers, and supporting the installation and commissioning of products both on-site and off-site.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop layouts and detailed designs for mechanical components and complete systems

Produce accurate production drawings and associated material specifications

Ensure designs conform to up-to-date standards and project-specific requirements

Collaborate with internal teams across departments to maintain design integrity

Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure component quality and manufacturing feasibility

Support on-site installation and commissioning activities as required

Maintain the design database and ensure proper storage of design documentation

Prepare comprehensive product manuals and technical documentation

Contribute to the training and mentoring of new and existing design personnel

Participate in client handovers and conduct end-user training sessions
REQUIREMENTS:
- A recognised third-level qualification in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical/structural design, preferably with steel structures

Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software and related design technologies

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within deadlines

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work

Excellent organisational and planning skills

Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across teams and departments
