Mechanical Design Engineer required for the design, development & testing of electromechanical, metallurgical & polymeric products in Galway. My client is an innovative medtech company with R&D and manufacturing operations. You will work with a cross-functional team on the design of market leading products for global clients.

Responsibilities:

• As part of the Mechanical Design Engineering team, working on new and existing product design & development projects
• Support project teams in general activities related to ongoing product design & development
• Design, development, build and testing of products
• Specifying/designing, developing and testing the equipment and processes to manufacture and test these products
• Document project activities in line with the company’s product and process development procedures
• Effective liaison with, and support of, other in-house departments as necessary

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering role 
• Advanced capabilities with 3D Modelling & 2D Drawing software such as Solidworks
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Expertise in multi-component tolerance analysis
• Proven experience in Plastic Part Design
• Experience developing Design Verification Test methods and qualifying same
• Knowledge of CFD & FEA Simulation software such as Ansys
• Enjoys understanding technical problems and is driven to find optimum solutions
• Ability to work as part of a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team with excellent collaboration and teamwork skills
• Experience in the Medical Device area would be an advantage
