PLC Controls Software Project Engineer
Job Description
A global leader in sensor-based and automation solutions is seeking a highly skilled Automation Project Engineer to join its EMEA Project Engineering team. This is a hands-on, design-focused engineering role supporting the development and delivery of bespoke customer projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for automation system design, including PLC, HMI and SCADA development.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Define project scope and estimate costs for custom solutions during the quotation stage.

Evaluate customer requirements and ensure full compliance with project specifications.

Design and develop project-specific PLC, HMI, and SCADA controls.

Create detailed electrical schematics and functional design specifications (FDS).

Visit customer sites to support commissioning, troubleshoot issues, and evaluate system performance.

Provide technical support to Sales, Service, and Operations teams as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a design-focused automation or controls engineering role.

Strong PLC programming skills with hands-on experience using:

Rockwell RS Studio, FTME, FTSE

Siemens TIA Portal, Simatic Manager and WinCC

Deep understanding of motor control systems, especially using Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

Experience in electrical cabinet design and component specification.
DESIRABLE:
-
Knowledge of EPLAN is advantageous.

CMSE or equivalent certification is a plus.

Experience in the food industry or similar industrial environments is beneficial.

Strong problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
