Principal Materials Engineer with experience in metallurgy, metals, alloys required for permanent role with medical devices multinational in Cork. This is an excellent opportunity to lead the development of new processes within a highly regulated medical device company. 


  • Develops technical solutions to complex problems through analysis of situations or data
  • Assume the role of technical mentor for engineers
  • Monitor application of engineering principles and the appropriate use of policies and procedures
  • May function in a technical leadership role on major programs
  • Develop a detailed understanding of “best practice” in product and process performance
  • Develop a support network to enhance understanding of product manufacturing and quality
  • Drive high levels of employee engagement through a support structure
  • Ensure adherence to GMP and safety procedures
  • Review and approval of validation documentation


  • BSc./ MSc./PhD. in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science
  • Experience in metallurgy, metals, alloys, materials characterization, microsopy/microstructure and phase identification
  • Mechanical testing and characterization
  • Experience in high performance multinational enterprise
  • Demonstrated project management expertise in a new product introduction (NPI) in a regulated environment
  • Ability to understand systems, gathering data and performing research
  • Ability interpret complex engineering drawings and geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Detailed understanding of the validation and verification process


  • Green or Black Belt 6 Sigma qualifications 
  • Strong experience in metallurgy 
  • Porous metals experience desired
  • Experience with titanium, titanium alloys, CoCr or Stainless steel
