Project Engineer – Mechanical Design
Job Description
Project Engineer – Mechanical Design – required in Cork to work on the design & delivery of automation machine design projects. As a Senior R&D Engineer you will develop and deliver automated projects from concept and design to prototyping, testing and debugging systems in alignment with established policies, goals and objectives. This is a hands-on design role requiring creativity while also prioritizing project deadlines & motivating colleagues to deliver on time.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience as an engineer within an automation / OEM environment
- Strong background in the automation machine development process
- Proven ability to communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge effectively and clearly to individuals and teams
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- SolidWorks 3D CAD experience
- Industrial machine/fixture/automation design experience
- Experience in writing & working with technical documentation to meet regulated industrial standards
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver robust designs through anticipating and preventing build, debug, performance and reliability issues.
- Ensure design is compliant to all regulatory, safety and CE requirements
- Use Solidworks software to produce solid models, detail drawings and BOM of equipment in line with client specifications
- Application of technical engineering input, during design on medium to large projects including concept development, components selection for projects – providing efficiency & cost savings
- Interpret & develop appropriate documentation required for regulated industrial projects. (e.g. POP Report, URS, FAT etc.)
- Help prepare project plans, specifications and schedules for new project development
- On-time delivery of projects within budget
- Specification & sourcing of suitable components from external equipment suppliers and liaising with sub-contract suppliers
- Utilize 3D CAD in design of equipment
- Design of equipment to meet CE requirements
- Hands-on involvement with all departments during, build, setup, debugging and testing of new equipment to ensure design meets performance and customers specifications
- Liaise with electrical and control engineers to ensure design compatibility
- Interacting with customer throughout the project life cycle.
