Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required to design high-quality automated electro-mechanical systems by medical devices multinational in North Dublin. My client is expanding their engineering team to complement their existing broad-range of engineering competencies. You will be a key member of an expanding R&D team in developing and supporting next generation medical diagnostic analysers. Do you want to be part of a team designing life-saving medical devices?

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation) or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ relevant engineering experience in a high performing R&D team
  • Experience in the design, development and verification of high-quality automated electro-mechanical systems

  • Integration of electromechanical sub-assemblies into complex systems which may include fluidics, optics, sensing, electronics and software elements

  • Experienced CAD designer who has good product lifecycle management (PLM) knowledge

  • LEAN/Six Sigma practices and principles to develop reliable robust designs (DOE, DFSS, Reliability testing)

Responsibilities:

  • Providing product and process design solutions to enhance internal process capability and the performance of installed products at customer sites

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and test of medical instrumentation product platforms in a low volume, high complexity and highly regulated technology environment

  • Design and validate technical solutions to enhance product and process capability

  • Capability to analyze problems to root cause with a structured approach and fully develop solutions, including all associated planning and design validation activity

  • Work across a significant subset of the key technologies involved in modern instrumentation such as fluidics, molding, electro-mechanics, software, electronics, optics, machining, metal fabrication etc.

  • You will be a ‘Local Process Owner’ & develop and manage systems of metrics for manufacturing and projects

  • Complete systems analysis and develop projects to drive continuous improvement in key metric’s in alignment with Lean, 6 Sigma, Design Robustness Principles and A3 Problem Solving Principles

  • You will be a member of several project teams working with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Lifecycle Engineering, Q.A. R&D, Service and Continuous Improvement

  • Significantly contribute to product and process design initiatives through all design stage phases (problem definition, containment, setting target condition, root cause, solution design, validation, implementation, monitoring on the production floor)

  • Participate in the continuous development of the quality system, including standard operating procedures (SOP’s), workflow development, product and process validations coupled with the ability to write concise technical reports

  • Support new product introduction and technology transfer initiatives from design through to maturation of product and process
