Senior Electronic Design Engineer required for permanent role with dynamic Irish R&D company in Co. Dublin. This role is suited to a well-rounded and experienced electronic engineer who can take a project from the concept stage, through the development process, and deliver a working prototype. The successful candidate will report to the CTO and will work closely with the Chief Research Officer during the early concept and feasibility phase.
Responsibilities:
- Take concept ideas and simplify requirements to provide quick proof of concept designs
- Identify areas of risk for concept designs and develop quick simple tests to remove/reduce risk
- Build prototype designs to test concept feasibility and remove risk
- Test prototype designs and provide test results to management
- Develop and document product definitions based on customer requirements and proof of concept testing
- Work with development team to clearly define all tasks and tests required to complete product development
- Carry out development work on products as required (hardware, firmware, software, testing)
- Record work in project management software
- Deliver tasks within time estimates
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor
Requirements:
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (electrical/electronic) or relevant experience
- 5+ years experience in hardware design
- Specialisation in electronic hardware design
- Broad range of engineering skills (circuit design (Altium), circuit simulation, CPLD, microcontroller, C/C++, Python)
- Ability to simplify complex problems into smaller simpler problems
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong, pro-active, communication skills are a must
- Motivated self-starter
- Knowledge of plasma physics and/or radio frequency would be a plus
