Software Manager with strong leadership skills required for permanent role in Co. Clare – REMOTE

As Software Manager, you will lead, motivate, mentor and direct an experienced team & lead the development, maintenance and enhancement of the software applications range and respond to roadmap items.


  • 3rd Level Degree in Software Engineering / similar
  • 8+ years experience in a software engineering environment
  • 3 years in a people management / lead role is ideal
  • Proven track record of delivering software engineering projects
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and ownership
  • Strong team or project management ethic


Manage Projects

  • Collaborate with a team in reviewing specifications and ensuring they are accurate, achievable and fit for purpose
  • Ensure that schedules are accurate and meet the customer requirements
  • Ensure that any changes are communicated, and any adverse events are addressed as much as possible
  • Ensure that all development costs are within the budget for the project

    Lead People

    • Provide mentoring and coaching on a 1-1 basis to all of the team, based on needs and capability
    • Demonstrating leadership and leading from the front. Putting in visible effort so others can follow. Demonstrating high integrity, commitment to quality and satisfying customer requirements above all else
    • Maintaining a positive and motivating outlook
    • Fostering an innovative culture amongst the team and encourage ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking and new and efficient ways of doing things
    • Ensuring all resources are adequately trained and capable of undertaking the tasks assigned to them
    • Ensuring that adequate resources are in place to undertake the tasks and projects assigned to you. Address any deficiencies in a timely fashion
    • Expediting recruitment for any resource gaps. Ensure that new hires are suitable for the purpose required
    • Managing individual performance and career development through 1-1 meetings and performance management reviews


    • Planning, scheduling and delivery of core products and projects
    • Defining, gathering and reporting software metrics
    • Ensuring that all projects are fully documented to correct procedures and suitable for audit
    • Software development tool identification and selection to support the development team and also support improvement initiatives
    • Regular and ad-hoc reporting of performance and progress is essential
    • Ensuring that all work and tasks carried out are consistent and compliant with our Quality Management System
    • Manage and control resources through timekeeping and clock-card maintenance on a weekly basis
