Supplier Quality Engineer with experience in industrial / consumer electronics sector required for key role with growing Irish R&D / Manufacturing company in Co. Clare. This role can facilitate full time on site or a hybrid likely to be 40% from home and 60% onsite in Shannon, County Clare once the onboarding period is sucessfully completed.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering or similar

  • 3 to 10 years’ experience in in a similar environment

  • Good technical knowledge of electronic circuits and product manufacturing methods

  • Significant and relevant experience working with component suppliers across the globe

  • Able to follow a precise methodology in terms of analysing existing value add parts and determining potential alternatives

  • An understanding of the implications with regard to product reliability when making changes

  • Must have excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills 

  • Be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team

  • Willingness to travel and meet suppliers across the globe as required

Advantageous:

  • Familiarity with ATEX approvals
  • Experience with Atmel/PIC microcontrollers and low powered battery circuits
  • Proven track record in reducing costs on existing products

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other internal functional teams and customers to promote the substitution of components, materials, and methods with less expensive alternatives, without sacrificing functionality and quality
  • To follow the various value engineering phases related to cost down projects from Information phase through to Development and Presentation phase
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to identify areas where cost reductions can be achieved on existing products
  • Provide input at design stage of NPI projects to provide optimum cost savings on components and other raw materials
  • Liaise with suppliers globally to identify and qualify alternative or dual source components
